How family caregiving is impacting employers and employees

From the column by Carolyn Langer, Chief Medical Officer of Fallon Health:

Our population is aging quickly and growing sicker. In 2010, just 14 percent of the population in the Lower Pioneer Valley was 65 and over, but that figure will increase to 23 percent by 2035, according to a report by the UMass Donahue Institute. Many struggle with health issues. Springfield has among the highest rates of older residents reporting fair or poor health, and physically unhealthy days and disability, according to the Massachusetts Healthy Aging Data Report.

The goal of the Population Estimates Program (PEP) is to ensure that the population estimates and counts produced by the U.S. Census Bureau for Massachusetts geographies are as accurate as possible and inclusive of the most up-to-date information available in our state.
